National Wholesale Supply is proud of our employees and the impact they have with our customers, co-workers, and vendors throughout our organization. This month’s Employee Spotlight is shining on Wade Silvey.
Wade is in Outside Sales at our Kilgore Branch and has been an employee with us at National for the past 7 years. He went to Overton High School in East Texas and graduated with an Industrial Distribution degree from Texas A&M University in the mid-90’s. He now lives in Kilgore, TX and has been happily married to his wife, Cindy, for 24 years. Wade and Cindy have two boys…Scott and Jason. Scott is a sophomore at UT-Tyler and Jason is a senior at Kilgore High School. Wade enjoys playing golf and has had a passion for watching his children play sports from when they were small children up to young adulthood. He also appreciates the time he gets to spend with his family on quick weekend trips throughout Texas and the surrounding states.
We sat down with Wade to get his perspective on being a veteran employee at NWS and to learn more about his drive to be the best salesperson possible.
What have you enjoyed most since joining National Wholesale Supply in 2015?
Our leadership at the Branch and Company level allow us the freedom to do our job properly. They trust me to be professional and they provide me the resources to take care of our customers. Their motto is hire great people with great skills and let them go into the market and be successful by providing solutions to our customers in a timely manner. My business is mainly commercial plumbing, but I also have a great group of HVAC customers as well. It’s vital that I am available for all my customers and I’ve truly enjoyed the freedom provided to me to do so.
What are you most proud of during your time at NWS?
Our branch in Kilgore has outperformed our sales and branch financial goals every year since I joined. We have been on a great growth path and our team works so well at reaching and surpassing our yearly metrics. The goals we set each year are not small…they are lofty and force a mindset knowing we will have to continue to provide value to our customers to meet our expectations.
What are your future goals at National?
I’ve been in this industry for 26 years and I absolutely love what I’m doing here at National in Kilgore. My main goal is to help grow our sales force in East Texas. This is a great market with significant growth potential. I’m looking forward to helping others reach their full sales potential. My Branch Manager, Mike Anthony, is the greatest manager of salespeople I’ve ever known…he has helped me continue to improve and I’m looking forward to doing that for others.
What would you say to a prospective candidate who is considering joining our team at NWS?
Come join us. There are great opportunities right now and National will give you the chance to have great long-term employment. The company is growing and continuing to add branches. We are seeing great growth in East Texas and have a long history of building successful relationships with our customer base.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
I really enjoy working here in Kilgore. I’m thankful to Mike and all my teammates at the branch. We work as a cohesive team and everyone here at the branch helps me to be successful and reach my goals. We are competitive and enjoy being the best team in the market we serve!
